- Musical Foundations: Born on April 28, 1878, in Benlloc, Spain, Fortea began his musical journey as a child, mastering the clarinet, guitar, and bandurria.
- Under the Master: Between 1898 and 1909, he moved to Castellón de la Plana to study under the legendary Francisco Tárrega.
- Illustrious Peers: During his formative years, he studied alongside fellow future masters Emilio Pujol and Miguel Llobet, collectively helping to define the modern Spanish guitar tradition.
